Hair benefits of drinking water

The most important thing we can do for our body is drink water. The Institute of Medicine has determined that the needed daily intake of water for hair growth for men and women is somewhere between two and three liters.

The quality of water that we use to wash our hair is as important as the quality of water that we drink. However, in this blog, we will be concentrating on drinking water. So next time, before complaining about hair growth or hair problems, remember to chug down adequate water to see the difference.

Benefits of Drinking Water for Hair:

  • Hair growth: Drinking water for natural hair growth is crucial. Just like our body, which has high water content, our hair shaft is also made up of at least 25% water. As such, water stimulates hair growth.

  • Improves Scalp Health: The scalp needs water. It’s essential for the maintenance and production of oils. Without a sufficient daily intake of water, the moisture levels of the scalp become unbalanced. This can cause dandruff, a dry, itchy scalp, or other scalp conditions. When the scalp is hydrated, it can distribute the oils accordingly and ensure the hair is in good condition.

  • Keeps Hair Soft And Shiny: Just like the skin, when the hair is dehydrated it shows. It becomes dry, tangled, and unmanageable. Naturally, a good intake of water will improve the condition of your hair and prevent frizz, tangles, and dryness. Water also adds a natural shine or glossiness to the hair and helps keep roots of the hair in tip-top condition.

  • Stronger hair: Just like our muscles, the hair also needs water to be strong and healthy. You might have noticed people with limp hair strands. There is a high chance that those people are not drinking enough water. Hydration makes for stronger, healthier hair. Strong hair is less likely to break than hair that is not properly hydrated.
